“I don’t think an extra gallon or so of resin is a bad thing when it comes to the strength and integrity of the structural components of the boat” Adding to much resin can be a bad thing. Adding to much resin can cause the fibres to “float” and not bond together which will cause weakness. You don’t want a a lot of resin, you want enough to wet it so it bonds together. (Getting cardboard or a smooth wooden bench to paint it onto the glass works) If you use too much resin, use a roller to push the excess resin out along with your air bubbles. Clean with a rag and acetone. To keep your glassing bench clean (if not using cardboard) lay down strands of chop with resin over the top when finished, let it go hard. It will peel off as one and leave you a smooth working area the next time you use it.

very nice! i hope your getting $$ considering how much these boats cost new 500 to 2500 is a deal. on the other hand for the life of i can't understand why if your making a "boat" why don't you use pressure treated plywood and lumber? if you ahve over 20 years or at least 10 years of home repair experiance you can make these all day without plans! you don't need curves everywhere either. simply add some angles and you should be good to go

Concour on laying glass first. Also I use low visc epoxy and slow hardener. Something of that size takes two people wetting out and one person making up small batches as you need them. Temperature effects how well and fast the glass absorbs and I generally try for low 70's. . Too warm and the epoxy sets up to fast and to low and it's difficult for the glass to absorb in a timely matter. Your under the clock glassing and you have to keep moving. Also after it's absorbed you want to remove the excess with a scraper (called a bondo scaper) otherwise you can get runs. Also use a heat gun to release trapped air bubbles. There's a lot more to it then your video.
